MODALITIES

Gentle Tissue Massage

In Gentle Tissue Massage I use light to medium pressure. This style of massage also known as Swedish Massage, increases circulation and can provide you with a sense of deep relaxation. I will use broad strokes, light touch, trigger point therapy and with gentle pressure encourage your body to release muscle tension.

Connective Tissue Therapy

Connective Tissue Therapy is a style of deep tissue massage that uses a deeply stilling massage technique that helps the body to restore its true energetic flow. It targets the fascia (connective tissue) in the body in order to relax chronically tight muscles, improve range of motion, soften scar tissue, and improve posture by improving the length, strength, and overall condition of the fascia. Medium to deep pressure is applied to the body in slow, sometimes still friction bringing with it a deep sense of relaxation and relief. I will guide you in patterned breathing to help you tap into your bodies sensations through coupling breath with pressure, encouraging you to release tension. Trigger point therapy is also used throughout this modality.

Air Cupping Therapy

People have used Cupping Therapy throughout history on injuries, to cure ailments as well as to increase athletic performances. With the style of cupping therapy that I perform, I use air to suction cups onto the skin with the use of a suction pump, separating the fascia and allowing blood to flow more freely. The effect is something like a reversed massage, pulling pressure outward rather than compressing inward. It has many benefits including increased circulation and blood flow, flushing toxins from the lymphatic system, benefits during pregnancy (when deemed safe), reducing anxiety, relieving tension and inflammation, and increased energy flow, the list goes on. This therapy does leave visible marks on the skin for 2-5 days that fade gradually in that time.

Fire Cupping Therapy

Fire cupping is the traditional modality for cupping the body.

Prenatal Massage

Prenatal massage is for people who are pregnant. Massage can only safely be performed in the second and third trimester of pregnancy (greater than 12 weeks pregnant). I am certified to practice prenatal massage. I completed a 14 hour online course on prenatal massage through Nirvana. This equipped me with the knowledge to safely practice prenatal massage. Pregnancy can undoubtedly take a tole on a persons body, I encourage receiving regularly bodywork throughout pregnancy to help reduce joint/body pain, edema, improved circulation and oxygenation of tissues and muscles and better sleep.

Energy Work

The form of energy work I practice weaves together Connective Tissue Therapy, Polarity Therapy and my own practices and understanding of the Elements and how they relate to the body. Our relationship to ourselves is not only physical, it is energetic as well. Through receiving energy we are able to create movement with energy, addressing blockages and balancing your energetic field.
